UNO Day @ FIT Unimas!

Petekma organized an UNO comp for FIT students this week.. me and my wife were both suppose to be in the comp but for some reason my name was not listed in the short list of orange group.. haizz.. what to do.. maybe there were some miss communication among the committee organizing the comp. Well.. It was fun though.. watching them compete.. Aya won 3rd place.. wohoo!!..

Well.. snapped a few photos during the comp day. Was excited when the game starts, so i just got a few shots.. haha.. Here are the pics..

Then sadly i fell ill.. haha.. had a bad week filled with assignments and midterm before hand.. ended up me falling ill... haizz.. like they said.. signs of old age.. haha.. well.. after i got a lil better just now.. brought my wife out for a drive to hunt for hawker food.. ended up at benteng buying mee goreng mamak.. and i manage to snap one pic there.. haha only one.. :) still dun have the courage for street photography.. maybe when i have zoom lens i dare to snap direct pic of ppl hahah..

Here are some shots of my lovely wife, Aya.. Trying to get used to the 50mm lens.. These photos were taken during valentine's day. Went out for a stroll at Kuching Waterfront and dinner is at Permata Car Park - Top Spot... Yum yum... the eggy crab was marvelous... Thought of doing some street photography, but my lens are just too short to snap the flower vendors without them noticing... Prefer sponteneous unposed shots rather then shots where people are aware of them being photographed... perhaps when i get my 80-300 f5.6 more natural public in action will be possible.. as for now.. keep to what i have in my lil cam bag.. hehe

The old lady's pic? haha.. was sitting down and she was waiting for the "penambang"... looks so worried.. so eager to get back home.. :)

New Toy Again!!

Just got a 50mm f1.8 today for a great deal. Bought it from Copal in Hock Lee.. Didnt expect them to lower till what i expected before i came in. Was at first disapointed a lil as empress studio do not have stock of the cute sharp lens. Anyways.. got the lens already and very satisfied with the performance.. great big aperature for me without hurting my wallet too much.. f1.4 is too expensive for me.. maybe other times.. for now.. f1.8 is big enough for my potraiture use.. :) The depth is very nice at f1.8.. hahaha.. cant wait for next event task. low light will not be a prob anymore.. :)

Well.. not much to say now. got mid term 2moro and im will awake with my wife.. so its picture time as usual.. and then zzz time for me.. Here are my first few shots with 50mm.. trying to get use to fixed lens.. learning..

Chinese New Year 09

Its my first Chinese New Year with "married" status. Was not expecting red packets this year, but still got quite a lot from aunties and uncles and also granny. Reunion is a must for my Chinese side. So like every Chinese New Year, we went. Thats the time where all cousins and aunties and uncle gather to chat, joke, gamble a lil and burn fire crackers. Mid night was havoc at my granny's house. Full of beautiful firecrackers all over. Unfortunately, this is my first experience with fireworks shots. So i didn't get much good shots. Learnt quite a lot from the experience. Untill i almost get hit by a firework gone haywire.. haha.. Perhaps, next year will be better as i did not have a tripod handy that eve night to assist me on slow shutter speeds..
Flash? i haven't bought one at this moment.. All indoor pics gone down the drain.. noise killing the high iso.. haha.. so not to be shown here.. lol..

My new toy!

Happy Chinese New Year to all pals.. Been a great New Year for me.. Grandma was kinda funny.. she keep remembering her old days.. just shows that shes already very old... kinda cute though.. but we're all kinda worried as well.. skip CNY first.. as I havent prepared my Chinese New Year shots.. Instead.. me and my wife got a new toy that kept us very excited.. Nissin Di622 Speedlite.. got it cause we have a job to shoot Chinese New Year celebration of Chinese Muslim Association on the 7th Feb 09.. So.. we thought that we need a flash to get the job going well.. not an event to play around with as the Chief Minister will also be there... Im among the 2 photographers in charge that night.. So hers the new new new new flashy toy.. and a test shot on our lil cute cat.. KITY...hehe.. Kitty's potrait is a night shoot in my house.. :)
