I haven't forgotten bout this blog.. don't worry.. :D Just having quite a busy schedule this semester considering all the classes, projects, things happening in and around me. Took some photo jobs along the way and some for fun photos but mostly did not have the luxury of editing and posting. Well, its exam week now, stressful and tiring.

It was lightning one after another after me and my family had dinner. Yes I was tired after the hactic and stressful exams today. The lightning was perfect for me to get away from everything for a while. Grab all photography stuff I have, head out, grab a stool, setup the shoot and sit there to wait for the moment. Well this was my first lightning attempt - more of experimenting with focus and settings. Here were some shots.

Been waiting for it to come out. It's not that it is always unseen but when ever it comes out, me and my wife could not prep it for a shot nicely before it rush back into its cave. Fortunately today our dearest OBT is calm. Managed to take a few shots of it. Needed to use off board speedlite setting to optimize the lighting.

OBT or Orange Baboon Tarantula or Pterinochilus Murinus is a very aggresive tarantula. Not recommended for beginner. Those who want to buy tarantulas may contact me. :D

Preparing Macro

I've never tried macro before. Although i tried water droplets, never the intention was to go macro. Well, my uni will have an exhibition on exotic pets this Wednesday. My wife and I are planning to exhibit our Tarantula, Star Tortoise as well as Golden Apple Snail. It would be fun. Exotic will also trigger me with macro shooting. I assume that it will be a macro heaven.. Many animals to shoot. Weird and odd looking animals. So during my trip to "Pasar Minggu" last weekend, we came across one guy selling bamboo since Chinese New Year is around the corner. I couldn't help noticing a tiny fly on one of his plants. It was oddly sitting still. Not much movement. Not even attempting to fly. I took out my slr and tried a test macro shot on it. Shot a few. and here is the best i got..

First Try Setting Up and Shooting Droplets

Well, I think almost any photographer will have attempted or thought of attempting droplets photography. It is fun indeed. After seeing several home studio setup meant for shooting droplets, we tried to make our own. The setup was done by the window assisted with 2 flashes and lights coming in from the window. Green basin and lots of water. Here are the shots. By the way.. how can anyone not love photography.. :D

Yes I know.. Its been a while since the blog is updated. Many reason to it. Mainly the 40d batt went dead and had to purchase a new phottix Titan.. Loving it. Great batt. Ok to keep the blog going, here are some unseen shots from the collection. Plan is to shoot sun rise at Puncak Borneo and Buntal maybe within this week. So, stay tuned.. :D

Learning HDR

Heres a try of HDR using Photomatix. Before this I also experimented with few other softwares and also using single JPEG image with Photoshop. So far most satisfies with using RAW image creating layers of images with different exposures and processed using photomatix.. Still learning the tone mapping though..

Honestly, not so into this HDR thingy very much. Prefer pure photography instead.. But to learn it and have fun.. why not, right? :D

When it's raining outside....

Yes, indeed, it was raining outside. The plan was to go out and have a shot of beach or sunset or city scape. Unfortunately it rained. Got some left over juice in my 4 pieces of Energizer. So its 6 kittens let in the house + 'lidi' + tape + paper butterfly time. Its a test of tamron's AF and yes, tamron lenses have very very slow AF. Fortunately, not all shots went bad. There are some good ones. Here are the shots.

Grandma's birthday is back!. :D Had a small gathering at her place. Me and my family were late as we got to the gathering directly from our 12 hour drive down from Miri. Yes it was indeed tiring. Raya of 2009

Raya mood everyone?? Yes ofcourse.. Although now thinking a lot about assignments and projects, Raya 09 is marvelous regardless all the worry about work in UNIMAS. This raya is very special to me and my wife as this is the first raya for us as husband and wife. Its great to have someone you love near you at a time like this. It just makes it so much more complete. This raya's plan was to celebrate first raya in kuching and then drive up to Miri on the second day. First day was indeed superb. Although not many visits cause dad and mom informed their friends that we are driving up to miri, but regulars and new friends from UNIMAS came. Thx guys.. U guys ROX!!.. haha.. Miri trip was tiring as always. But it was worst this time as Myvi was filled up to the max!. Bounce and bounce and bounce all the way..luckily we got out fenders cut off before the journey to avoid major knocking of the rims and car body. Miri was indeed fun. How can we not enjoy when both of our family gather together and celebrated the raya as a huge huge unit.. :D.. We had Tahlil early morning for our late grandma who just passed away. Raya in miri was also filled with funny moments looking at my sister in law, getting used to her new Myvi. She just got her license. Funny how she drives. :D kinda reminds me of the days driving my kancil my dad bought me after i got my license. Anyway, Keep Learning, Sis Jue.. :D..

Well.. Raya is far from over... ITS STILL ON!!!.. but i cant wait to post this. Since RAya is still on... prepare for more raya pics.. :D as well as grandma (Ah Ma)'s birthday photo.

My UnCLe'S KonVo

At last.. its finally done for our dearest uncle, Suhaimi.. or.. Pekmi.. :D.. congratulations!!!!... Dun forget to belanja us on ur first gaji.. :D.. Well.. back to the story. Our family from JB came down to Kuching for the first time ever to witness Pekmi's konvo day. Was very happy cause at last they come down to Kuching. Its also a great opportunity to get to know better our father's side's family. Its sad that I'm not very much exposed to my father's side family. It was way back when my late grand dad passed away.. when i was in form 3, if I am not mistaken. Its been more then 10 years now, and yes, thats how long I haven't met my dad's side's family. My cousin Saiful.. the last time i met him was when he was still small running around my late grand dad house. Now we have all grown up. Its kinda sad that I didnt get to meet them more often for the past 10 years or more. But yet I am glad that at last i get to meet Mak Usu, Pak Usu, Saiful, Kak Long, Ajis, Pak Jul and his wife. Really glad... Next will by my father's side elders auntie and all my other cousins. Hope to meet them at last too.. Here are some pictures that I have processed during their visit.

Massive Glow In The Dark DUN..

Ok.. Kuching is now topic all over Malaysia. Why not? Its August... and like they say.. BULAN BERPESTA!!... Many things going on during this month. And well, everyone knows one of the major happenings is the opening of Kuching's new Dewan Undangan Negeri DUN which is located on the banks of the Sarawak River opposite Kuching Waterfront. Events such as fireworks, boat parade as well as local craft bazaar accompanied the grand opening of the massive "glow in the dark" building. Was driving along the Gambier Road during the preparation and was lucky to get a parking space. Tripod in my car boot, dslr in my bag, DUN lights are all on, parade boat trying out their art on water, PERFECT!.. went down to get some shots of the massive DUN. Was not the only photographer doing so. Many others were also there. Here are some shots taken.

40D.. WOW!

After handling the hactic UTM trip, me and my wife had planned to drive to Miri for the week. We turned down MAP, packed our bags and drove to Miri... just the two of us. The journey was scary (haha), as our parents in Kuching gave the wrong info bout bad road conditions. Instead of telling the road we should avoid, they made us drove into the road under construction.. scary as our fuel was only a bar to empty when we finally reached Sibu. But it was fun anyway.. :D..

Reached Miri on the same day. Got a Canon EOS 40D deal in Miri as well, sacrifising my 50mm as well as 450D to get that semi pro body. Didnt know if it was worth it at first. After the trade, i was blur with the settings everywhere as the manual was in Japanese. Slowly tried here and there and ended up getting quite used to the camera on the second day. Unfortunately the LCD saturated preview was unlike my previous 450d. Thats one thing i m trying to learn to stick with till today. After setting the 40D roughly, it was time to have some test shots. What better shots then sunset in Miri Esplanade... Brought everyone at home (My bro and sis in laws) to fetch another sis in law at school, and then we headed to our fav place, Miri Esplanade. Here are the first few shots of the 40D.. :D

My final words, WORTH EVERY SINGLE CENT... pics came out priceless.. :D

The Spring Mall Show

Its Gawai eve and me and my wife have nothing to do and have no plans for the night.. So we headed out to test the 18-200 tamron after it has done good during my neighbour's wedding on that early morning. :D Snap a few tele shots at Taman Sahabat at Kuching and ended up for dinner at Sushi King at The Spring Mall.. We were so lucky that there was not only L lens for show and sell by Copal which we viewed but also there's this dance show in conjunction of Gawai Celebration i guess.. So here are shots me and my wife had taken. We were not the only shooting gang as there were few more dslr shooters around.. it was fun.. :D

KL Trip

Just recently me and my wife went for a trip to KL to hang and relax from the busy student life. The trip was firstly planned together with our parents' trip. But last minute changes and mom having to fly to labuan for work made them canceled their trip and left us both going alone. The first plan actually was to hang out at my home town Muar before venturing up to KL. Changes to the plan made me and my wife took a direct bus to KL as soon as we touched down at Senai Airport. In KL, we stayed at my dearest cousin Nolan and Nora's home at Kelana Jaya Sentral Apartment at the 20th floor. Very very breath taking view (Unfortunately im very much afraid of heights). By the way, thx Cuz Nolan and Cuz Nora as well as Aunt Agnes. :).. saved a lot by not having to stay at a hotel.. haha.. thx so much.. love u guys.. My in laws came to KL on the 23rd. and we all gathered to venture around KL. Went to various places such as Genting, Aquaria and etc with them. My dearest cousin brought us up to Bukit Tinggi also.. Another breath taking scenery there. Well.. enough words typed.. here are some of the pics me and my wife snapped.. Nothing artistic, just memories... Had so much fun with my in laws.. sis jue.. sis ena.. bro ijam.. mom .. dad... and also cousins nolan and mei mei... hope to do this again soon.. enjoying every bit of it..

Pangkalan At Gambier

Went out to hang waiting for our dinner appointment at Dormani Hotel scheduled at 7.30pm. It was still early and our car ride ended us up at a pickup point for penambang near Gambier Road. It was late evening when the sun begans to set. Again.. Silhouette is our favourite area of photography. So its down to Aya's hands as she loves scenery photography. Here are some of her shots.

Photography Assignment

So here at last, the photography class assignment was out. We had a discussion among other students in the class with the lecturer himself trying to choose a genre for the assignment in the week before.. After taking into consideration various photos from everyone, we ended up having 3 sub genres to narrow down our shots. They are Shadow or Silhouette, Animal and also Close up....

Was very worried about close up as we do not have macro lens to play with.. the closest we can get is to shoot wide using 50mm to eliminate the back and cropping it down to make it look like a close up. blah blah blah.. leave that behind first..

So we are suppose to show our shots this week before actually handing them in. Me and my wife had an outing just to focus on silhoutte. We went to pangkalan sapi and also pantai puteri at around 5.30pm till 7.00pm.. The sky wasnt as expected.. Not very nice as it was a lil hazy. Well ended up with a few photos to show.. and here they are..

Another outing will be done this weekend hopefully... Friends who would like to join, can leave me a pm here.. More is always much more fun when it comes to shooting.. haha..

Permai Outing in the rain..

Went for an outing with my wife, Albird, Ckin, Bruce and his gf.. It was a sudden plan. which means nothing was planned.. haha.. It was raining cats and dogs and yes.. we suddenly thought of CAMP PERMAI!!.. what a great idea!!.. rain?? who cares.. haha.. so it was phone here phone there and ended up 6 of us going.. Packed my belongings and camera and woooffff... we were on our way.. By the time we reached kampung Buntal, our minds started to doubt our plan.. haha.. but what the heck... we're half way there... so the unplanned plan went on.. We figured that we were going to be alone on the beach as it was stilllllllll raining cats and dogs..

Upon reaching.. we saw plenty of cars at the car park.. yes.. signs of many more insane people playing and swimming in the rain.. haha.. and when we stepped on the beach.. there it was... tonnnneeesss of people there... dancing in the rain.. bathing like crazy.. surfing wanabe like crazy too.. haha

So i didnt take many pictures.. dont blame me yet... it was raining.. i was on a beach... near salty water.. and worst of all.. i do not have a drybox.. DANGER!!.. i will get one 2moro.. haha.. but i do snap some.. here they are.. :)

UNO Day @ FIT Unimas!

Petekma organized an UNO comp for FIT students this week.. me and my wife were both suppose to be in the comp but for some reason my name was not listed in the short list of orange group.. haizz.. what to do.. maybe there were some miss communication among the committee organizing the comp. Well.. It was fun though.. watching them compete.. Aya won 3rd place.. wohoo!!..

Here are some shots of my lovely wife, Aya.. Trying to get used to the 50mm lens.. These photos were taken during valentine's day. Went out for a stroll at Kuching Waterfront and dinner is at Permata Car Park - Top Spot... Yum yum... the eggy crab was marvelous... Thought of doing some street photography, but my lens are just too short to snap the flower vendors without them noticing... Prefer sponteneous unposed shots rather then shots where people are aware of them being photographed... perhaps when i get my 80-300 f5.6 more natural public in action will be possible.. as for now.. keep to what i have in my lil cam bag.. hehe

New Toy Again!!

Just got a 50mm f1.8 today for a great deal. Bought it from Copal in Hock Lee.. Didnt expect them to lower till what i expected before i came in. Was at first disapointed a lil as empress studio do not have stock of the cute sharp lens. Anyways.. got the lens already and very satisfied with the performance.. great big aperature for me without hurting my wallet too much.. f1.4 is too expensive for me.. maybe other times.. for now.. f1.8 is big enough for my potraiture use.. :) The depth is very nice at f1.8.. hahaha.. cant wait for next event task. low light will not be a prob anymore.. :)

Well.. not much to say now. got mid term 2moro and im will awake with my wife.. so its picture time as usual.. and then zzz time for me.. Here are my first few shots with 50mm.. trying to get use to fixed lens.. learning..

Chinese New Year 09

Its my first Chinese New Year with "married" status. Was not expecting red packets this year, but still got quite a lot from aunties and uncles and also granny. Reunion is a must for my Chinese side. So like every Chinese New Year, we went. Thats the time where all cousins and aunties and uncle gather to chat, joke, gamble a lil and burn fire crackers. Mid night was havoc at my granny's house. Full of beautiful firecrackers all over. Unfortunately, this is my first experience with fireworks shots. So i didn't get much good shots. Learnt quite a lot from the experience. Untill i almost get hit by a firework gone haywire.. haha.. Perhaps, next year will be better as i did not have a tripod handy that eve night to assist me on slow shutter speeds..
Flash? i haven't bought one at this moment.. All indoor pics gone down the drain.. noise killing the high iso.. haha.. so not to be shown here.. lol..

My new toy!

Happy Chinese New Year to all pals.. Been a great New Year for me.. Grandma was kinda funny.. she keep remembering her old days.. just shows that shes already very old... kinda cute though.. but we're all kinda worried as well.. skip CNY first.. as I havent prepared my Chinese New Year shots.. Instead.. me and my wife got a new toy that kept us very excited.. Nissin Di622 Speedlite.. got it cause we have a job to shoot Chinese New Year celebration of Chinese Muslim Association on the 7th Feb 09.. So.. we thought that we need a flash to get the job going well.. not an event to play around with as the Chief Minister will also be there... Im among the 2 photographers in charge that night.. So hers the new new new new flashy toy.. and a test shot on our lil cute cat.. KITY...hehe.. Kitty's potrait is a night shoot in my house.. :)

Colors of Serikin

Saturday, 24th of January 2009, just 2 days before Chinese New Year. Woke up early that morning when my dad come knocking on my door saying "Serikin serikin.. " Sarawakians or those who ever been to Serikin will know what Serikin is. For the sake of those not knowing, its actually a market place which is located at the border of Malaysia (Sarawak) and Indonesia. That is the place where Indonesian come to sell things and where Malaysians can come shop them legally. Well some stuff are fairly cheap and Serikin is very well known for a destination for shopping especially during festive season.

So Chinese New Year is coming close. Since my mom is a Chinese, the family is certainly busy preparing for granny and aunts. Mom's curry and cooking is always the main target since mom prepares Halal food.. haha..So its curry and fried noodles for reunion and maybe some other food from my aunts and uncle. Cant wait for the "fish maw", my very favourite. Aunt Agnes always reserves one big bowl for me every reunion.. haha.. *blush*.

Well... enough of that, and back to the Serikin trip. Dad brought us there to buy some stuff since it had been quite long since the whole family go for a ride and enjoy the day together. His reason... "beli kuali".. ok reason accepted.. :).. So EOS 450D in the bag.. and ready to go.. When we reached the destination.. i was shocked to see how colorfull the place was.. everything was so rich in colors... Makes me so eager to snap a few pics here and there.. but i admit it was hard as the lighting at the area was so unconsistant. I was constantly changing aperature and iso settings to get the right representation of color in my snaps.. so here are the pictures taken.. enjoy colors.. :).. "gambar ya pak" :)

Rain + Kuching = Flood

Its all in the news these few days. Kuching is once again flooded all over.. In fact.. its not only Kuching that is badly flooded.. its all over Sarawak.. Its high time for the government to think about what is wrong with our drainage system. We cant blame nature for what is happening, its our own doing that cause this to happen. Glad that it wasn't as bad as few years back. I still remember, few years back, driving back home and caught in the jam on the Satok bridge over the Sarawak river.. every one was trying to rush back home.. Was really scary being on top of the bridge looking down at the flooded river with the current going crazy. Seeing all the jammed up cars make my mind run wild thinking when the bridge is going to collapse.. haha.. mind going wild.. Anyways, the flood this time brought me, my wife and my parents to my father's x school. he was the "guru besar" there before. he still loves the school so much.. during the flood few years back.. the school was badly flooded.. and guess what.. same old story this year.. my wife, Aya took some snaps while i was driving and watching around.. here are her shots..

Cold outside.. But I just cant ease my mind..

Its been raining where i live and its been raining for days in and out.. It sure is the best time to take a nap and have a deep sleep but something is just not right tonight.. Nothing to discuss much here.. So I guess, I just spend this scrambled night of mine blogging bout the few pics taken during an outing for a so called quick lunch.

So we were all tired and blur arranging and rearranging our subjects for the semester. Doing things over and over again trying to get the right combination without having to kill ourselves for the semester to come. After a tiring moment of SMP and subject transfer (again), we decided to go for a so called quick lunch. From coffee shop to fast food to laksa but ended up at Chicken Hartz.. Quick lunch eyy.. hehe.. So we gathered and ended up waiting for 2pm to grab our "quick lunch" cheaply (RM15) at Chicken Hartz. Our lil bro and sis, Wan and Wani stay for about a week for school holidays after our wedding. Went to a couple of places with our myvi. Glad they both had fun. Me and my wife would also like to congratulate Wani for her good PMR results.. Keep up the good work.. Hope you get into Sekolah Teknik next year.. We would also like to take this opportunity to wish all friends and our blog readers and viewers a very happy new year.. Hope the new year brings more color to life..

Its been quite a while since this blog is updated.. Sorry guys.. There's a very strong reason for that.. Its none other then.. my wedding with lovely fiancee, Aya.. So now the blog is me and my wife's blog.. haha.. Had been a very busy time for both of us. Both in Miri and Kuching went well, thank God. For our friends.. dont worry.. there will be another gathering for you all.. the reason we made the decision to saperate friends gathering and reception is because we want our west malaysian friends to also attend. Since Unimas now is on holiday, so me and my wife decided for the gathering to be held after the holiday ends.. hehe.. will let u guys know the exact time and date.. watch out for the invite in friendster, facebook and here.. hehe so here are 2 photos of wedding reception in Merdeka Palace Kuching.. will post more when i have time..

Waterfront Walk After Steamboat

Me and my fiancee went to have a walk and bubble tea after having a massive 2 hr dinner at D11 steamboat.. haha.. with my tummy stuffed, i have a very unstable hands. coz already full.. haha. but anyway, took some pictures while walking. Kuching International Airport

Have always been fascinated bout the beauty of the Kuching International Airport. First day i got my 450D, me and my fiancee rushed up to the airport just to try out the power of dslr not knowing that the power will only unleash itself with the experience of the man behind the camera. Worst still, we were attempting night shots. And guess what? disaster ofcourse.. haha. But bout a month or two after that, we made few more trips there for various reasons but with the camera in hands. And heres one of the shots. You be the judge.. :)

Outing with West Malaysian Friends

Was hanging out with some of my west Malaysian friends. Showed them the way to shops where they got some kek lapis, ikan terubuk masin and jeweleries for them to bring back home this coming Hari Raya Puasa holidays. Was sunny that day but when we reached the wet market to get some ikan terubuk, the day got darker and darker. Eventually it rained very heavily. While waiting for the ikan terubuk guy pack the ikan terubuk we bought, managed to play around with my 450D snapping the chaos saving market umbrellas from blown away by the strong wind. Bukak puasa was at Hornbill steamboat and later that night we all hang at Kuching Waterfront.

p/s: To kemek and geng... gambar tu amik dari aku kat SIR k.. banyak sangat and besar... kalo upload kat flickr.. abis bandwith yang di benarkan bulan ni.. hahaha.. esok (25/09/08) aku bagi kat kemek.. hehe
